On December 3, 2025, at 1:00 PM (ET), the National School Transportation Association (NSTA) hosted the inaugural 2026 NSTA Safety Competition Stakeholder Meeting, led by the NSTA Safety Competition Committee.
We were pleased to welcome 70 participants, including drivers, state associations, school districts, private operators, and industry supporters. This meeting provided an excellent opportunity to present the improvements and changes planned for the upcoming International Safety Competition, while also giving attendees a forum to share their questions and feedback.
This important session laid the groundwork for an enhanced School Bus Driver International Safety Competition in 2026. Participants learned how aligning local competition courses with the International Competition course can elevate driver performance and support a more consistent pathway for competitors advancing to the national level. Presenters also highlighted key details for the 2026 event, including the venue and schedule, updated driver eligibility criteria, the written knowledge test, a comprehensive competition and course overview, judge registration and participation, travel logistics to and from Austin, and sponsorship and booster opportunities.
