2023 NSTA Safety Competition
As you know, due to the ongoing effects of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have been unable to host the School Bus Driver International Safety Competition for the past three summers. There have been a myriad of reasons why it was not feasible to host the event, with most of the variables being outside of the control of the Safety Competition Committee.
Looking ahead, both of us strongly considered the ability of our committee and NSTA to successfully reinvigorate the event after such a long absence. Upon reflection, we decided to err on the side of caution and asked the NSTA Board of Directors to consider a “pause” of the 2023 School Bus Driver International Safety. At their meeting on November 9, 2022, the NSTA Board of Directors voted in favor of pausing our activities for 2023.
Therefore, there will not be a 2023 School Bus Driver International Safety Competition in Pittsburgh, and we will take this period to assess the viability of the competition moving forward. Please know that this is a decision that was not taken lightly, and our emphasis has been, and will continue to be, the ability to host this important event – garnering enough resources to be able put on a competition as we have in the past.
We thank everyone for their continued support, and if you would like to provide feedback, please send your remarks to firstname.lastname@example.org. In addition, we respectfully request that if you are in favor of NSTA hosting future competitions, that you also address what resources you or your organization will be able to provide toward the effort.
NSTA will provide updates as they become available.
With best wishes,
