The 51st Edition of the School Bus Driver International Safety Competition (SBDISC) will be held on June 28-29, 2025 in Austin; and over the next few months, NSTA will learn the identities of local champions from the USA and Canada - who will get that golden ticket to go to Texas in the summer to showcase their knowledge and driver skills in the competitive format of the 2025 SBDISC.

The Safety Competition is the industry’s most recognized school bus driver event, and NSTA is pleased to be the official host once again, building on its 2024 comeback. Hays CISD is the permanent competition site, and it continues to offer its great course and infrastructure to give drivers and spectators an amazing experience. The driving event takes place on Sunday, June 29th, and the Austin Marriott Downtown will be the venue where participants will check in and have their orientation and written test on Saturday, June 28th.

Additionally, the hotel serves as the place where competitors and guests will celebrate the results at the Awards Reception & Dinner on Sunday evening, June 29th. The hotel is in Downtown Austin, within walking distance from famed 6th Street, popular shops, the hottest restaurants, and the Lake Bird Like; it features a rooftop pool with breathtaking views and a 24/7 open fitness center. With this perfect location, Safety Competition attendees will have plenty of options to enjoy Austin in their free time. The NSTA room block with special rates will be available soon. While NSTA prepares to launch its registration portal soon, qualified drivers who compete in regional competitions will find on the NSTA website information on the 2025 SBDISC Driver and Competition Handbook, and they can check eligibility requirements, competition rules, and scoring information. For those interested in volunteering to be a judge, the 2025 SBDISC Judge’s Application form is also available on the NSTA website.

Companies and Individuals who want to be part of this incredible event and help us promote school bus safety within our community and the public can support the Safety Competition by becoming an event sponsor. Having financial assistance is critical in offsetting the cost of the proper execution of the event. It takes significant planning and coordination to make the competition a success, and sponsorships provide much-needed revenue, so drivers leave Austin with a positive competition experience by covering the costs of materials for their awards, trophies, shirts, meals, and other expenses that come along with an event of this size.

Once again in 2025, Beacon Mobility, has stepped up as the event’s title sponsor. IC Bus, Keystone-RWR, First Light Safety, and School Bus Fleet also committed to sponsoring the event in 2025, and we appreciate their strong support. We still have room for additional sponsors and boosters.

Sponsorship opportunities for the 2025 School Bus Driver International Safety Competition are now available on the NSTA website. Go check it out, and don’t miss the chance to support and participate in one of the most iconic events in school transportation.

Stay tuned for more information, and see you in Austin this June!
